You've Got to Start Somewhere...

Do you ever have plans for a project and just don't know how to get started? Yeah, that's me in most artistic endeavors...especially when others might see it. This area of my website has been "eheming" me since I first signed on and I've done a good job of throwing up my hands and ignoring. But you've got to start somewhere.
What's been going on in the Amanda Preisler world of writing? Definitely something! I completed the rough draft to a new novel last summer--realistic fiction--and I'm sloooowwly working through some initial revision passes. I'm excited about this story & these characters, but my plans to "get 'er done" are continuously thwarted. I always have great intentions for maintaining a writing schedule during the school year, but then reality sets in. This past year especially steamrolled me. Flat. I meant to hit writing hard once school ended, but instead I hit a medical emergency that took June and then some. Such is life!
What's this new story about? It might be too early to divulge such secrets, but there's definitely a character with Down syndrome. And lots of antics. And friendship and family. And peanut butter. And probably large misunderstandings. And maybe too many marshmallows. But, you know, that's all I can really say. I'm not certain what this blog will morph into, but right now it will be a place where I share some ideas & thoughts for the writing journey, book updates, and fun stories that could be true.
How often will a new post appear? I'm not sure yet. It depends on how many steamrollers are waiting for me. Somehow they do a good job of hiding until they're in plain sight. Odd, because they're so large... Once a month seems like a good goal for now.
